Update

Yo its bin over six months since I was bloggin so a quick update.
Its the year 2012 and the united kingdoms of western Europe are ruled by Lord David Cameron and his mate Cleggles with Dave's 5th cousin Liz make sure they dont go too close to the stove or make too much of a mess of the living room.
So Daves like "I'm a big boy now which means they gotta pick up the our toys now"
And Cleggles is like "Yeah"
And Daves like "specially younger boys cus us older boys got mortgages and cars and insurance and pensions and bright-stores payments and that"
This dynamic vaguely reminiscent of watching the left and right sides of Boris Johnson brain communicate though the medium of thunder birds inspired puppetry (also know as Top Gear) and the long honored police exercise routine of beatings. Inspired the civil revolt of 2011 in which ill-informed revolutionarys return from civil action to find that they have unwittingly forgotten the rights and social reform and that you can't trade in a Ipad for health insurance or a pension or anything.

A Socially Developmental Approach to Hip Hop

YoY. throught I'd prublish my dissertation here. It's a social critique of civilights movement and the formation of hiphop. I learnt alot from it. Truth seems to be that you get played if you do played if you dont. As musicians we need to keep changing it up quicker than it can be bagged, tagged and sold back to us.
It kinda opens up the debate of how and how much. Take Odd future. They run around bleeding and skating like Jackass, Raping split personaltys like M&M and talk bout pulling guns. But they seem like  the kinda kids you could smoke with and not get beat-up or ignored. Thats probably enough to scare record labels into bagging then as we speak. Not just in the manner they transparently(and jokingly I may add) do themselves but also to split them from a universal persection of rappers. They aint conscious rap that's for sure. They come inline with the 'New West' of hiphop but that's just a genre. Maybe that's enough. My guess is they'll use the skate thing maybe even imply that there is a class difference.
Gangster rap makes to much money to be complicated by diversification. Ofwgkta will make money on the back of being underground until they aint then 'purist' hiphop heads will disown them and say they sold out. Circle of life right.

Tips on the Day-to-Day

Lets get a list going

1. Eat - I forget and procrastination creeps in. Try nuts, seeds, fruit.
2. Mix up your uppers - I gotta the energy up in studio so I have a caffeine addiction like alot of other electronic artists. I'm mixing it up now ginseng, guarana, etc. Working out well my days alot less stop-start ad I don't over-dose so often.
3. Fake it till you make it - Musicians don't have an enrolling process. You wanna be one then you are. That means you get out there an throw punches like Tyson with dust in his eyes an see who you catch. Note that point, an come in with the children eating. You end up on your arse then you get back up with baby entrails for a chain. That way people know you mean business.
4. When the drugs don't work - please feel free to debate this with me. But your weed addiction may help you lay some groove down; but it aint gonna help you pull the fatality the track deserves. I'm guessing the same goes for whatever your poison.
5. Finish Him - I'm being Hypocritical I know, but it cant be said enough. You really think that track is so much better than the next. To be honest most of the time I can't tell you how good my shit is unless I'm making it. 1 week an I wont like it, 2 then maybe, bout 4 I can tell you how good it is if I'm in the right mood.
6. Boundary's - I'm sure I'm not the only one who's spent so much time explaining that dispite what it looks like I'm working. 'One of those good problems, I suppose...'

Holla I'm Joe 'Apt'

I'm heading out of a 25 year education stint to life now an I know I ain’t who has to maintain through the next 75.

In the interest of holding myself an others in good stead I'm writing this blog in the hope that we can support the interests and mental health of Freelance artists. Cus there ain't anything getting us out of bed in the morning beside us.

So I'm gonna keep putting any tips I can think of up here regarding supporting self motivation, good health and creativity. Any additions will be more than welcome.
